Sometimes I find things online that have to do with my husband's job, and the stuff I read is so incredibly WRONG that it makes my eyes cross.
For example, did you know that single/unmarried applicants are given preference for my husband's job during the federal government's hiring process?
Neither did I. BECAUSE THEY AREN'T. Contrary to some hideous misinformation that I read here on this site (the "Best Answer," I suppose, is a bit inaccurate in a few areas, but it was well-intentioned. The "Other Answer" is truly offensive.), lots of folks with my husband's job are MARRIED. With CHILDREN. Like WE ARE.
Mercy.
Anyway, I have moved on from my state-of-mind yesterday (and have reminded myself of how grateful we are not to still be where we were in the past), and have gotten the last of the Washington DC Zoo photos together.
My apologies to anyone who is sick of Zoo pictures. I have actually saved what I consider to be the cutest for last! I couldn't get over the elephants and the prairie dogs. Oh. My. Heavens. Too incredibly cute!
Playing with water...
Taking a reallllllly long drink...
A portrait...
Eating what looked like ENTIRE BRANCHES from a tree!
The prairie dogs were so terribly cute (and pudgy) that I think that my mother might possibly just pass out from the sheer cuteness of it all.
My guys, being guys, compared this next prairie dog picture to its being a prairie dog zombie, wandering around muttering, "BRAINSSssss..."
Cutest little pudgy prairie dogs!

We're a lot alike when it comes to taking photos at the zoo... I seem to snap every single animal I see.
Looks like you had a GREAT time. Love that you're taking public transportation and getting out and about while you're there!
I'm looking forward to having solid internet soon enough so I can really see your photos... oftentimes I'm disconnected before they all download!
Happy Sunday! Hopefully I won't be too much of a stranger this week... but who knows...

oh dear, the prairie dogs look like really pudgy squirrels (except more cute). I want to hang out with them

Single guys with no kids get preference? That is too funny! If that is so how do you explain our compound in Jakarta? 14 townhouses, all married couples almost all with kids. 14 houses, 24 kids.
Love the zoo pics of course!

It looks like the National Zoo really needs to implement some kind of prairie dog Weight Watchers program.

Ha ha, that last prairie dog picture is chubby enough to look like my baby daughter. :) They're so cute!

Thank you for the wonderful pictures. The elephants are always my favorites, tied with girafes.

O.M.G. That last one is the world's most perfect happy prairie dog picture. There can never be a more perfect prairie dog photo anywhere in the world. Could not possibly be improved upon. End of discussion.
